Ladies 3s vs. Chelmsford 6s

Jennifer Hopkins9 Feb - 19:11

Final Score: 7-0

The Ladies 3s braved a dreary, rain-soaked afternoon to secure a dominant 7-0 victory against Chelmsford 6s in an away fixture. Despite the miserable weather, the team wasted no time asserting their control, storming to a commanding 6-0 lead by halftime.

From the first whistle, the Ladies 3s set the tempo with sharp passing and relentless attacking play. The opening goal came early from our own Captain Jen after 2 minutes, the second coming from Jen only 2 minutes later (with Sue from the opposition asking Jen to be subbed off), setting the tone for a relentless first half in which Chelmsford struggled to contain the pressure. Martha continued Jens lead by knocking one in, in the 6th minute before Jen achieved a hat trick in the 10th minute of the game, The midfield dictated play, threading passes through to the forward line, who clinically converted their chances. The defence remained solid and composed, ensuring that the hosts had minimal opportunities to threaten the goal. Paige decided to follow suit and scored in the 13th minute – all was going to plan. Our lovely Grace came back to play for this game and also scored in the 30th minute, we were 6-0 up at half time.

The second half saw Chelmsford tighten up their defence, making it harder for the Ladies 3s to extend their lead. Despite a number of chances in the second half, and some interesting umpiring decisions we were held at 6-0, they had some short corners resulting in the ‘only’ touch of the game by Ali keeping a clean sheet. However, persistence paid off as a well-worked team move led to the final goal of the match from the lovely Jemima, sealing an emphatic 7-0 victory.

A fantastic all-round performance, with disciplined defending, intelligent link-up play, and ruthless finishing. The team will take plenty of confidence from this result as they look ahead to their next fixture.
