Match Report:

Ah, the glamour of away days – nothing like a 2-hour road trip to Bedford to get the blood flowing… or to make you want to nap on the sidelines. Despite arriving with a hint of fatigue, we shook it off and geared up to give it our all.

Bedford came out of the gates strong, catching us a little off guard. In the midst of the chaos, confusion reigned supreme when a whistle from the neighbouring pitch made us pause mid-game. Unfortunately, Bedford did not RSVP to our impromptu freeze-frame moment and instead decided to carry on… and promptly scored. If that wasn’t bad enough, they followed it up with a second goal just to remind us that the whistle confusion wasn’t going to save the day.

Cue halftime. Time for a tactical team chat, and more importantly, time to get our heads back in the game. After a quick reshuffle of the formation, we came out swinging! Ashlie took matters into her own hands, making a run toward the D that left Bedford scrambling. She won a short corner after a foul (thank you, opposition!), and that’s where the magic happened. Kendall coolly slapped the ball out to Ashlie, who struck it clean. The ball rebounded off the keeper’s pads, and there was G, ready and waiting – BOOM, a beautiful flick into the back of the net! The crowd (imaginary) went wild.

Alas, despite our best efforts and renewed energy, Bedford snuck in another two goals before the final whistle, leaving us with a 4-1 loss. But hey, we had our moment of glory, and that’s what counts, right?

Special shout-out to Mica, who earned herself a well-deserved Player of the Match for her sheer commitment and fiery passion on the pitch. Of course, that same passion earned her the coveted Dick of the Day title as well – because, let’s just say, there may have been a few moments when passion overflowed… ?
