Old Southendians 2s 4- 0 Chelmsford 3s

Back again by popular demand, and it was more of the same on the pitch with another back-to-back win for the old boys, cementing our place as 2nd in the league.

The game got off to a perfect start with an early short corner putting a bare 11 Chelmsford straight on the back foot, but unlike previous weeks we kept up the pressure and a 2nd goal from the returning Mike Millane quickly followed.

But despite all the goal-mouth action our newly appointed striker (Summers), couldn’t seem to find it… a return to left-back may be on the cards.

The second half was a similar display to the first with the old boys controlling the game and not giving the opposition much of a sniff. All this pressure led to multiple short corners, and Toby being the tactical genius he is decided to whack them all down the middle… luckily the keeper predicted far better flicks and missed them all.

MOTM went to Toby who had a stellar game in midfield, breaking through their lines at will and winning fouls and short corners throughout the match.

JOS went to myself for mishearing the call from the umpire and placing the ball in the wrong position. This led to false accusations from the rest of the team about me not knowing what a long corner was and where to take it.
