Old Southendian 2XI 0-1 Chelmsford 2XI
The eagle eyed amongst you will have noticed the end of the 2XI’s goalscoring streak. This week, we began a new goalscoring (or lack thereof) streak. Unfortunately, despite valiant efforts and many shorts (again), the back of the goal could not be found.
The match was an absolutely slugfest, with strong challenges on both sides resulting in a few cards, and a poor attempt at mindgames resulting in the author of this match report receiving his temporary marching orders. Note taken: only shout at own team in future ??.
Positives to take from this week:
- 4 games, 3 goals conceded. Could be a lot worse (Check Braintree’s goal difference for a laugh)
- Fatherhood has not dampened Alfie’s competitive streak
- Luke knows how to cook chicken on a stick quite well.
- Can’t fault our fitness levels
- James loves a cup.
Negatives:
- lack of goalscoring goes into its second week (Ben to the rescue?)
- Cards are not fun
- Stopping the ball at shorts isn’t easy
- Game 5 coming up and our third game NOT IN YELLOW
- James loves a cup
