It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of John Glynn, a beloved member of our community. As the 2nd XI Captain in the 1970s, John was more than just a leader on the field; he was a mentor and friend who generously gave lifts to Brant and other youngsters to training in his iconic Lotus. His leadership was marked by the success of his team, including an exceptionally successful indoor side.

Beyond his contributions to hockey, John was a skilled yachtsman, spending many cherished hours sailing at Thorpe Bay Yacht Club. His passion for the sea and his talent on the water were well known and admired by all who knew him.

John's funeral will be held on Tuesday, 30th July at 11:30 AM at Southend Crematorium. As we gather to pay our final respects, we remember a man who was not only a dedicated sportsman but also a kind and generous soul.

Rest in peace, John. You will be deeply missed.
